Red Hot and Blue; Williamsburg, VA

December 7, 2015

Oh boy, Red Hot and Blue in Williamsburg, VA has made a comeback. I already had a review written on them but had not posted it because I didn’t have any pictures. Well this is a new review. My old one is stashed away.

You see we had several bad experiences there. Our last one was in Nov. 2014 when I said I would never return. I’ll just leave it at that and move on.

Fortunately my niece sort of talked us into giving Red Hot and Blue another try. I’m glad she did. It seems that they may be getting back to the Red Hot and Blue that we enjoyed before the crash. So here’s my take based on our latest visit.

Red Hot and Blue, Brunswick Stew

We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door by a friendly hostess. She took us to our table where our waitress promptly came to check on us and take our drink orders. We immediately noticed that the dining room looked cleaner and it was brighter than it used to be. The volume on the music had also been lowered so that you could talk at your table without raising your voice. So far so good. We were really liking it.

I started out with a cup of Brunswick Stew. It was really good. Theirs has a little heat to it but not too much. Plenty of meat and a tomato base made it all good.

Red Hot and Blue, Tennessee Triple

For my diner I ordered the Tennessee Triple with fried okra and baked beans. My meat choices were the pulled pork, brisket and dry rubbed ribs. Everything was good tonight. The ribs were the best part. I always did like their dry ribs. The brisket was

pretty good as well. It has some sauce on it but still had a good smoke flavor. The pork was not my favorite but was good, just

not great. I felt it needed more smoke. My okra and beans were good as well.

Tammy ordered pork also so there’s not a lot of comparing to do. She did order the potato salad and onion rings with hers. I’m not a big fan of their potato salad but she is. For me it has too much mayonnaise in it. The onion rings were really good though.

Based on this visit I would recommend giving Red Hot and Blue a try. You can find reviews on them rating from a 1 – 5. If you stumble upon my earlier review of them on line it also was a 1 dating back to late 2014. I’d up that to a 4 now. Let’s see how they do. Our waitress said there’s a lot more hands on management going on and they’re really trying to improve things there. So far they are doing a good job. Hope they keep it up.

So, have you paid Red Hot and Blue a visit lately?

How about letting us know how it went?

I’d love to see comments from our readers about their visits.

I only found a corporate site on the web but you can look them up on Facebook.
