Fritz Pitz BBQ Closes.

Yes it’s true, Fritz Pitz BBQ closes in Virginia Beach, VA.

Good evening all. I have sad news about one of our newer finds on the BBQ Trail.

We really liked this new bbq restaurant. Their food was awesome and the people were great. It makes me sad to see a good small business close down.

The sign in their window says that they closed for an ownership change. They should reopen in about three weeks.

Will it still be Fritz Pitz BBQ? Will the food be the same? Will they continue to serve “Burnt Ends”? Will they still have a friendly staff?

All good questions. Only time will tell. Once I find out they reopened I will check them out to see how many questions I can answer.

As I said this is so sad. I hope everything works out for all involved, especially the innocent employees who were caught by surprise. Take care and best wishes to all.

I happened to drive by last week (1/7/16) and it’s still closed. Sorry, but I’m going to disagree with you about how good this place is/was. Being from Texas, I know good brisket and Fritz didn’t have good brisket. It was dry with no smoke ring or flavor, no crusty bark…honestly some of the worst brisket I’ve ever eaten (in fact, I couldn’t finish eating it, it was so bad). Wasn’t impressed with their “competition” ribs either, as they were also dry with just a hint of smokiness. The final deciding factor for me in my decision to never come back was the indifference of the staff and manager when I complained about the quality…or lack there of…of the meal I was served.
    Overpriced and lackluster….adiós Fritz Pitz.

Matt, You must have really had a bad experience there. I know I’ve had some bad visits to places only to find out that they must have been having a bad day cooking wise. Customer service should always be on top no matter what day a restaurant is having. I respect your opinion on the brisket but your description does not match what I ate there. I too had my introduction to brisket in Texas. Prior to that I was strictly pork. I do know where you are coming from with that. There are some other restaurants on my blog that are in the Virginia Beach area. There is some good brisket out there. It may not live up to your Texas expectations but they are a lot closer. Hope you find what you’re looking for out there. Please let me know if you try one of the other ones. Thanks for your input.
